Day #17 - Replacement Parts for Baby Products

Day #17 - Replacement Part for Baby Products

Once again, replacement parts are the daily topic!  This time, it's baby product replacement parts.

Recently at our local Goodwill, we found this Beaba Classic Babycook.  I'd never seen one of these new-fangled contraptions, but the price tag on the bottom REALLY caught my eye!

Snookie my cookies!  Did that thing really cost $139.95?  The Goodwill price?  $5.99!  Score!  Or, so I thought at the time....

We bought new-fangled baby contraption cooking machine home, and carted it home to give it a whirl.  And....yup, there was a reason it was at the Goodwill.  Despite descaling it with vinegar, the steam function just did not want to work.  This thing wouldn't even cook an old apple.  Not-so-cool, guys.  No score at all!

Soooo, rather than throw it away and count it as a total loss, we decided to part it out.

Here are the parts we were able to harvest off of it, and we will keep track of what we sell as we go:

Day #16 - Petsafe Pet Products

Day #16 - Pet Products

Pets are definitely a big part of our life.  We have a 100 lb Labrador Retriever, 2 crazy cats, 13 chickens of various breeds, and several fish.  Through the years, we've rehabilitated a lot of wildlife - most recently, a litter of squirrels whose mother died.  Pets definitely bring fun and excitement to our everyday lives.

For that very reason, pet products sell well on eBay!

Today we are highlighting one particular brand of pet products - Petsafe.

We listed this Petsafe collar receiver, along with it's AC adapter.  Before we could even list it here on our project, it sold.

Originally, we purchased the Petsafe Stay + Play unit on Craigslist for under $100.  When our dog no longer needed it, we parted the pieces out.  The sending radio unit sold for over $100 several months ago.

We put the collar receiver and AC Adapter in one lot and it sold for $50.

So definitely keep your eyes peeled at thrift stores and yard sales for Petsafe Radio Pet fence products - they do really well!

Day #15 - Jean Skirts

Day #15 - Jean Skirts

Jean skirts sell really well on eBay!  Especially plus sized ones.  Long, modest skirts are getting harder and harder to find these days, and this is one reason why ladies denim skirts do so well.

One particular brand to look out for is Cato.  If a Cato skirt is long, has no slits, and is in good condition, you can easily sell it for $20-40!  It seems that the larger the size, the better it sells.

Day #14 - Jellycat Plush Toys

Day #14 - Jellycat Plush Toys

Today's subject is just about one brand - Jellycat!

What is a Jellycat, you ask?  Good question!  Jellycat is the brand name of a toy manufacturer in London, England, famous for their well-made plush stuffed animals!

If you run across a Jellycat at a thrift store or yard sale, take a second to do a quick search on eBay.  Some of the older, retired Jellycats can fetch upwards of $75 - $100.

Take for example this kitty cat that recently sold on eBay for $89.99!

We have sold several Jellycats in the past.  It's a brand that always seems to do quite well on the 'Bay, so do keep your eyes open for them when doing eBay hauls.

Day #12 - Pottery Pieces

Day #12 - Pottery Pieces

Over the past week, my parents were down from Maryland, and one of the things we love to go do is thrift shop!  My Mom loves to shop the clothing racks, but my kids and I were on the lookout for our 98 Day project.

At one of the thrift shops, I found these neat, vintage pottery pieces made by Marks and Rosenfeld.

The pieces were marked with the letter "M" overtop of the letter "R" as seen below:

While the pieces we purchased are not high dollar, we do expect we'll be able to make a few bucks on our investment.  In total, we spent $5.99 for three separate pieces:

Butter Dish
Gravy Boat (no plate)
Creamer

A quick eBay history search showed the butter dish had sold for $19.99 with free shipping, so why not give it a go?

Day #4 - Replacement Parts - Cuisinart Blender

Day #4 - Replacement Parts

It's Day #4 here at 98 Days of eBay.  Two of our sons graduated this past Saturday, and so we got behind on our eBay project, but we are trying to catch up.

Today's feature is once again replacement parts!

In this case, we purchased a box at a Goodwill that included a Breville All-In-One food processing unit, along with a NutriBullet.  I paid $50 total for the box, and decided to keep the contents.

Rather than sell my old food processor "complete" on Craigslist or eBay, I've decided to part it out to see if we can not only cover the cost of the Goodwill box of goodies, but also make some money in the process.

We've already sold a few pieces from this blender, and here is the breakdown so far:

Cuisinart Blender Pitcher                           $19.99
Cuisinart Blender Food Processor Blade   $12.99
Cuisinart Food Processor Blade Stem        $5.99

Total Profit So Far                                    $38.97

We're almost breaking even before listing our latest parts from the Cuisinart Powerblend.

Day #3 - Baby Security Blankets

Day #3 - Baby Security Blankets

It's Day #3 here at 98 Days of eBay, and today's topic is baby security blankets!

Loveys, wubbies, nubbies, boo boos, or nu nus - whatever you may call them, babies are crazy about them!  They are another item that is easy to source and very easy to ship.  Another bonus is that they don't take up much room to store.

Security blankets are often under 16 oz, making them fall into the "First Class" shipping range, which is very affordable.

We can usually score these items for under $1.99, and often sell them for $10 - $20, depending on the market saturation.

Some folks buy them to replace lost lovies, and others buy them for sentimental value.  New with tags, they also make great baby shower gifts.

What to look for...

Old Fisher Price security blankets will score you upwards of $100 or more, depending on the condition.   Here's what to keep an eye out for (they come in pink, blue and yellow and there is also a bear):

Day #2 - Replacement Parts for Krups Coffee Maker

Day #2 - Replacement Parts - Krups Coffee/Espresso Machine

It's Day #2 here at 98 Days of eBay, and today's topic is replacement parts!

Replacement parts can be a great asset to your eBay sales.  As well as being easy to list and selling well, they are also very easy to source.

Before you throw out that 1960's Oster Blender that was Grandma's, do a quick check on eBay to see what the replacement parts sell for.  You may be surprised at what you find.

Often, by parting a small kitchen appliance out, you can make more profit than if you sold the item in its whole form.  Why?  Simply because people who need a replacement part would rather pay $10 with free shipping for one part, than pay $20 with $20 shipping to buy another, complete item.

CASE IN POINT...

We purchased this like-new Krups XP1500 Coffee and Espresso machine at the Goodwill for $12.99.  We have harvested all the pieces off of it and are now selling them individually.  I've already sold the following replacement parts (before starting the 98 Days project):

$  9.97   Boiler Cap Lid
$18.99   Coffee Glass Carafe
$13.99   Filter Basket Metal Grinds Holder
$  5.97   Drip Tray Grate
$13.99   Glass Espresso Carafe
___________________________________
$62.91   Total Gross Profit So Far

The cheapest price for this intact machine on eBay is $49.99 + shipping, so as you can see, parting it out has already garnered more profit than if we were to sell it whole.

The rest of our "parts and pieces" for this machine are Day #2's sales items...

Day #1 - Ladies Shoes

Day #1 - Ladies Shoes

It's Day #1 here at 98 Days of eBay, and we're so excited to begin our journey!

Each day of our journey, we'll be listing and blogging with a particular theme.  For our first day and theme, we've decided to peddle Ladies Shoes!

Everyone knows someone who is a shoe diva.  Perhaps it's your mom, your sister, your daughter, or yourself!  With all these shoe divas, we're bound to sell a few pairs.  Everyone needs some sole, right?  Ok, enough of the punny stuff, let's get down to business...

Welcome to 98 Days of eBay - our Summer Peddle Project!

Welcome to 98 Days of eBay!

Who?

Welcome to our blog, and thank you for stopping by!  Our family of six consists of Dad, Mom, three teenage boys and one pre-teen girl.

What?

"98 Days" stands for the amount of days in summer, starting at Memorial Day, and ending on Labor Day.  During this time, we are going to sell items through various platforms:  eBay, Craigslist, LetGo, OfferUp, Bonanza, and Amazon.

Why?

1.  To save for a new-to-us, but used vehicle.  Our faithful station wagon is on its last legs.  Will she make it to the end of the project?  We shall see!

2.  To teach our children the value of hard work and that "in all labour there is profit;" (Proverbs 14:23)

3.  To stay busy through our summer break

4.  To have fun and share with others how our little peddling project goes
